Virtual FD services for South Wales businesses, on a fixed fee

Virtual FD services are what owners ask us for when the business has outgrown a set of year-end accounts and nobody is watching the cash between January and December.

Most owners assume finance leadership means hiring someone at a salary the business cannot carry yet. You get the same steer for a fixed fee agreed before we start, and calls, meetings and emails are never billed. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT registered accountancy practice at Titan House in Cardiff Bay providing virtual FD services to owner-managed businesses across South Wales and the wider UK. Work is priced as a fixed monthly fee agreed in advance, calls and meetings are never charged for, and tax investigation cover is included for every client.

Is your business getting a real finance steer? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons. No email needed.

Question 1 of 3

Do you see your numbers monthly rather than once a year?

What you get

Tax investigation cover at no extra cost

Every client we act for is covered free. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Numbers each month you can decide on

You see margin, cash and what each part of the business is earning while you can still do something about it. That is how a second site gets signed off with evidence behind it.

One fee, and no bill for the phone call

The fee is agreed in writing before we start. Ring us the day a supplier wants a price rise and it costs nothing.

What owners tell us before they call

These are the three things we hear most from businesses that need a finance steer.

  • “I find out how the year went nine months after it finished, and by then it is history.”

A price that was too low all year carried on being too low for another nine months.

  • “My accountant files everything on time but has never once told me what the numbers mean.”

Reliefs went unclaimed and the salary and dividend split stayed wrong for three years.

  • “I want to open a second site but I cannot prove the first one can fund it.”

The lender asked for monthly figures and the decision stalled for a quarter.

  • What changes once we take it on

You get management accounts on a set date each month and a call to talk through them. We map every deadline for the year so nothing lands on you unannounced. When a decision comes up, you already have the numbers to make it.

How this differs from a year-end only accountant

Both arrangements file your accounts. Only one of them talks to you during the year.

A year-end only accountant

You see figures once the year has closed.

Questions during the year arrive on the invoice.

Pricing decisions are made on instinct.

Investigation cover is sold as an add-on.

With Supreme Consultants

Management accounts land on a set date each month.

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged for.

Pricing and headcount are discussed against real margin.

Investigation cover is included free for every client.

Eight questions about how your numbers reach you

Answer each one yes or no about the way things work now.

  • Do you get figures more than once a year?

Annual accounts tell you what happened, not what to do next week.

  • Do you know your gross margin this month?

Without it, a price rise is a guess.

  • Can you see a cash shortfall three months out?

A VAT bill and a quarter rent in the same week is the one that catches people.

  • Has anyone reviewed how you pay yourself this year?

The salary and dividend split is worth revisiting every year.

  • Could you hand a lender twelve months of figures today?

Funding decisions stall while figures are pulled together.

  • Do you know what each site or product line earns?

One line often carries the rest and nobody has checked which.

  • Is your bookkeeping current to last month?

Numbers more than a month old cannot drive a decision.

  • Do you know your fee for the year ahead?

An open-ended bill stops owners asking the small questions.

What we do as your virtual FD

Finance leadership for businesses that need a steer without a full-time hire.

All Services
Monthly management accounts
Figures on a set date each month, with a call to talk through what they mean for pricing, stock and staffing.
Cash and VAT forecasting
You see the VAT return, the corporation tax and the payroll run before they arrive, so the money is set aside.
Profit extraction planning
We review salary against dividends each year and tell you what to draw and when.
Growth and funding decisions
Second site, first employee, new van. We put numbers behind the decision before you commit.
Compliance kept in one place
Bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, accounts and corporation tax run underneath the advice, so the figures we talk about are the filed ones.

What monthly numbers did for a retail client

A convenience store owner came to us running one shop with no view of which lines actually made money. We put monthly management accounts in place and sat down with him on each set.

Clients described by type. Names withheld.

One store to fiveover the time we have acted for him
How it was found
Monthly figures showed which product ranges and which hours carried the margin.
What happened
He funded each new site from trading, with the numbers to show a landlord and a lender.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

How getting started works

Four stages, and the first one costs you nothing.

  1. Before you join

    A free introductory chat

Tell us where things stand. We will be straight about whether we are the right fit, and say so if we are not.

  2. Week one

    Fee agreed and records moved

We complete your ID checks, confirm the fixed fee in writing and write to your current accountant for the handover. You do not have to make that call.

  3. First month

A full review of your position

We go through past accounts, tax returns and HMRC records. This is where missed reliefs and payments on account set too high usually turn up.

  4. By ninety days

    Monthly reporting and a plan

Management accounts run to a set date, and we talk through how you pay yourself, salary against dividends, so you keep as much as the rules allow.

Who we are not right for

We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not act for charities.

We do not take on businesses already late in an HMRC investigation.

If none of those describe you, the check is the quickest way to find out what we would do for your business.

Virtual FD services: questions people ask

How much do virtual FD services cost?

You pay a fixed monthly fee agreed in writing before any work starts, and it covers the relationship as well as the work. Calls, meetings and emails are never billed separately. The figure depends on turnover, transaction volume, payroll headcount and how tidy your records are, so we quote after the introductory chat rather than guess.

Can I switch to you from my current accountant?

Yes, and most of it happens without you. We complete your ID checks, write the professional clearance letter so your records come across directly, and get appointed as your agent with HMRC and Companies House. Switching includes a free handover, free Companies House ID verification where it is needed, a free first month and free migration to Xero.

What happens if HMRC writes to me or opens a check?

Send us the letter the day it lands and we take it from there, including the correspondence and the deadlines. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client we act for, where other firms sell it as an add-on. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Do I have to change my accounting software?

No. We work with the system you already use, and we will tell you if it is holding the monthly reporting back. If you do want to move to Xero, we migrate you free as part of switching. Nothing changes on your side until you have agreed it with us.

What is the difference between virtual FD services and management accounts?

Management accounts are the monthly figures. Virtual FD work is the conversation that follows them: what to price, when to hire, how to fund a second site, and how much to draw from the company. Most clients take both together, because the advice is only as good as the numbers underneath it.

How quickly will you reply when I need an answer?

We reply the same working day. If the answer needs more time than that, we still come back the same day to tell you when you will have it. There is no charge for the call, which is the point: owners ask the small questions instead of sitting on them.
