Payroll in Cardiff, run on time every month for a fixed fee

Payroll in Cardiff is what most owners hand over first, because a late payslip is the one mistake every member of staff notices the same day.

Most employers who call us have been caught out by an RTI submission filed late or a pension letter nobody explained. We run the payroll, file it on payday, and deal with the employer post. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice at Titan House, Cardiff Bay. It runs monthly payroll, RTI filing and auto-enrolment for employers in Cardiff and across South Wales on a fixed fee agreed in advance. More than 100 clients use the firm, and tax investigation cover is included free.

Is your payroll in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons below and you will see where you stand.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day when a payslip looks wrong?

What you get

HMRC cover at no extra charge

Tax investigation cover is included free for every client we act for. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Staff paid right, on the day you said

Payslips out before payday, RTI filed on or before the payment date, and pension uploads done. You see the figures before anything leaves your bank.

An accountant who knows the Welsh rules

A Spar franchisee came to us still paying full business rates through Covid, because Cardiff Council required an application nobody had mentioned. We spotted it in the first meeting and recovered £10,000.

What owners tell us when they call about payroll

Three things we hear most weeks from employers across Cardiff.

  • “My last accountant sent the payslips two days after payday and my staff were asking me why.”

He spent payday fielding questions he could not answer. The next month he was doing it manually in a spreadsheet.

  • “I got a letter from The Pensions Regulator about re-enrolment and I had no idea it was due.”

The date had passed. Sorting it took three weeks of back and forth that one diary entry would have prevented.

  • “I was charged for a ten minute phone call about a leaver, so now I just guess.”

He guessed the final pay wrong twice. The corrections cost more than the calls ever would have.

  • What changes once we take it on

You get the payroll figures to approve before payday, and the filing happens on the day. Auto-enrolment dates sit in a diary we keep, not in your head. When something looks wrong you ring us, and the call is never on the invoice.

How a payroll bureau compares with us

Bureaux are cheap and accurate at the job they are given. The difference is what sits around it.

A payroll bureau on its own

Runs the figures you send them

Queries go into a ticket queue

Employer letters come back to you

Pension dates are your responsibility

With Supreme Consultants

Payroll sits with your VAT, books and accounts

Same working day reply, calls never billed

We answer HMRC employer post as your agent

Re-enrolment and year-end dates diarised for you

Eight questions about your current payroll

Answer these honestly and you will know whether your set-up is holding.

  • Do your payslips reach staff before payday?

Late payslips are the complaint owners hear first.

  • Is your RTI filed on or before the payment date?

Filing after payday is what triggers the penalty notices.

  • Do you know your next pension re-enrolment date?

It comes round every three years and the letter arrives late.

  • Are starters and leavers processed with P45s on time?

A missed leaver keeps feeding HMRC the wrong employee count.

  • Does anyone check holiday pay against hours worked?

Variable hours are where underpayments quietly build up.

  • Did every employee get a P60 by the end of May?

It is a legal duty and staff need it for mortgages and tax claims.

  • Would someone answer an HMRC employer letter for you?

As your agent we deal with it directly, at no extra cost.

  • Can you reach your accountant on payday morning?

We reply the same working day and never bill for the call.

What a same working day reply changes when payday is Friday

A corner shop owner waited a week on his old accountant after a new starter was paid the wrong hourly rate. We answer the same working day, and when the full answer needs longer we still come back that day with a time.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

Who we are not right for

We do not act for CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not take on charities.

We do not take on businesses already late into an HMRC investigation.

If none of those describe you, run the check and we will tell you what your payroll needs.

Payroll in Cardiff: questions people ask

How much does payroll in Cardiff cost?

You pay one fixed monthly fee, agreed in writing before any work starts. It depends on how many people you pay, how often you pay them, and whether payroll sits alongside your bookkeeping, VAT and accounts. Calls, meetings and emails are never billed on top, so asking a question costs you nothing.

Can you take over payroll from my current accountant mid-year?

Yes, and most clients join part way through a tax year. We write to your current accountant for the year to date figures and employee records, so you avoid that conversation. We then get authorised as your PAYE agent with HMRC and pick up from your next pay date without a gap.

What happens if HMRC writes to me about PAYE?

Send it to us and we deal with it as your agent. We check it against your submissions and your HMRC employer record, then reply on your behalf and tell you plainly what it means. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, and every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Do I have to change payroll software to work with you?

No. We work with what you already use, and we will tell you honestly if it is causing the problem. If you want to move your bookkeeping to Xero we migrate you across free of charge as part of switching. Nothing changes on your side until you agree to it.

Do you handle auto-enrolment and pension uploads?

Yes. We assess your staff each pay period, calculate employer and employee contributions, and upload them to your pension provider. We also track your declaration of compliance and your three yearly re-enrolment date, so the letter from The Pensions Regulator is never the first you hear of it.

Do you run payroll in Cardiff for employers with only one or two staff?

Yes. Plenty of our clients are director only companies or shops with a couple of part time staff, and the same monthly process applies. We take on employers of any size, although we do not act for CIS construction subcontractors or charities. Tell us your headcount on the check and we will quote from there.
