Tax investigation cover in Cardiff, included free with your fixed fee

Tax investigation cover in Cardiff is something most firms sell as a yearly add-on. We cover it ourselves for every client we act for, at no extra charge.

Most owners only think about it when the brown envelope lands and the firm that filed the return asks for a separate fee to defend it. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. You ring us, we deal with HMRC, and your fee stays where we agreed it.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT registered accountancy practice at Titan House in Cardiff Bay. It includes tax investigation cover free for every client it acts for, with no separate premium, and handles HMRC correspondence for South Wales businesses on a fixed fee agreed in advance.

Is your tax investigation cover sorted? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons, no email needed.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

Tax investigation cover included at no charge

Every client we act for is covered by us. If HMRC opens a check, we answer it and no separate bill follows.

A reply the same working day

Email or ring us when the letter arrives and you hear back that day. If the full answer needs longer, we tell you when to expect it.

A fixed fee agreed before we start

You see the number in writing up front. Calls, meetings and emails are never added to it.

What owners tell us before they call

Three things we hear most often about HMRC letters in Cardiff.

  • “HMRC have opened a check on my VAT return and my accountant wants a separate fee to deal with it.”

He paid once for the return and again to have it defended.

  • “The brown envelope sat on the side for three weeks because I did not know who to ring.”

The date in the letter passed and a penalty was added before anyone read it properly.

  • “I was sold fee protection as an add-on and I still have no idea what I actually bought.”

He paid a premium on top of his accounts fee every year and had never opened the policy.

  • What changes once we take it on

We are appointed as your agent, so HMRC post reaches us when it reaches you. We write back, gather the records and tell you in plain terms what is being asked. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

How cover sold as an add-on compares with ours

Both arrangements exist in Cardiff, and the difference is who carries the cost.

Fee protection sold as an add-on

A premium charged each year on top of the accounts fee.

Work goes through an insurer with its own terms.

Decline it and HMRC work is billed by the hour.

Plenty of good firms run this honestly and some owners prefer it.

With Supreme Consultants

Cover is included free for every client we act for.

We deal with HMRC ourselves as your appointed agent.

The fixed fee agreed before we start does not move.

Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Eight questions about where you stand with HMRC

Answer these before you decide whether your cover is real.

  • Is your accountant registered as your agent with HMRC?

If not, HMRC post reaches only you and nobody else sees the clock running.

  • Do you pay a separate yearly premium for fee protection?

With us the cover sits inside the fee you already agreed.

  • Has anyone read your HMRC account in the last year?

Payments on account set too high often sit there unnoticed.

  • Have you had a penalty you never appealed?

Many are appealable when there is a reason behind the late filing.

  • Would you be charged for a ten minute phone call?

We never put a call, a meeting or an email on the invoice.

  • Are your VAT records backed by the receipts behind them?

A VAT check asks for the paperwork, not the figure on the return.

  • Do you know when your next filing deadline falls?

We diarise every deadline for the year ahead and tell you what we need.

  • Could you reach your accountant today if a letter arrived?

You get a reply from us the same working day.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

    A free introductory chat

Tell us where things stand. If we cannot genuinely help, we will say so.

We complete your ID checks and write to your current accountant for your records, so you avoid that conversation.

  3. First month

    Your HMRC record reviewed

We read your past returns and HMRC account in detail. This is where missed reliefs and appealable penalties usually surface.

Who we are not right for

We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not act for charities.

We do not take on businesses already well into an HMRC investigation with deadlines behind them.

If none of those describe you, start the check and we will tell you what happens next.

Tax investigation cover in Cardiff: questions people ask

What does tax investigation cover in Cardiff cost with you?

Nothing on top. It sits inside the fixed monthly fee we agree in writing before any work starts, and there is no separate yearly premium to decline or renew. Calls, meetings and emails about an HMRC letter are never billed either, which is the point of covering it ourselves.

How do I switch to you from my current accountant?

Book the introductory chat and say yes. We complete your ID checks, agree the fee in writing and send the professional clearance letter to your current accountant so they pass your records to us directly. We also handle HMRC and Companies House agent authorisation, so you are not making those calls yourself.

What happens if HMRC writes to me or opens a check?

Send us the letter the day it arrives and you will hear back that working day. We are your appointed agent, so we write to the officer, agree what is being asked and gather the records behind the return. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Do I have to change my bookkeeping software?

No. We work with what you already use, and plenty of clients stay exactly where they are. If you do want to move to Xero we migrate you free as part of switching, including the opening balances and the bank feeds, so nothing is lost in the handover.

Can you help if HMRC has already opened an investigation?

Often yes, and the earlier you bring us in the more we can change. Where a case is already well advanced and deadlines have passed, we will tell you honestly that another firm is better placed. We would rather say that at the first meeting than halfway through.

Do you only act for businesses in Cardiff?

Cardiff is home, at Titan House in Cardiff Bay, and most of our clients are across South Wales in Newport, Swansea, Caerphilly, Port Talbot and Barry, plus Bristol over the bridge. We act for clients elsewhere in the UK too, working remotely, in person, or a mix of the two.
