VAT returns in Port Talbot, filed on time for a fixed fee
VAT returns in Port Talbot are what most shop, takeaway and trade owners first ring us about. Usually a quarter is close, or a letter has landed from HMRC.
The worry is the bill you cannot explain and the accountant who answers next week. We agree a fixed fee in writing before we start, reply the same working day, and tax investigation cover is included free for every client.
In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice in Cardiff Bay that prepares and files VAT returns for businesses in Port Talbot and across South Wales. The fee is fixed and agreed in writing before work starts, and tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

Is your VAT in good hands? Three questions.
Answer with a button and see where you stand.
Question 1 of 3
Does your accountant reply the same working day when you ask about a VAT return?
Do you know your fee for this year will not change?
If HMRC opened a VAT check tomorrow, would they deal with it at no extra cost?
You are filing VAT without knowing who picks up or what it costs. Start the check and we will tell you what we would do differently.
Start the checkYou have part of what you need and a gap in the rest. Start the check and we will go through the one that is missing.

Tax investigation cover included free
If HMRC opens a VAT enquiry, we deal with it and you pay us nothing extra. Other firms sell that cover as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year.
Every quarter filed before the deadline
We keep the records in cloud software and submit under Making Tax Digital in good time. You see the figure before it goes.
Ring us about a VAT letter for nothing
Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top, and you get a reply the same working day.
What owners tell us when they call
These are the three things we hear most about VAT in Port Talbot.
“HMRC has written to me about my VAT and I do not know what the letter means.”
The letter sat for three weeks while he waited for a call back. Deadlines in HMRC letters do not pause.
“The paperwork is piling up behind the till and the quarter is next week.”
The return went in on estimates and the correction cost more than doing it properly.
“I got a VAT bill nobody explained and my accountant has not called back.”
He paid it because he had no way of checking it. Some of it was not owed.
What changes once we take your VAT on
Your records go into cloud software and stay current, so the quarter is never a scramble. We file on time and tell you the figure in advance. If HMRC writes, you forward the letter and we answer them.
How this compares with a once-a-year accountant
Plenty of firms do good work and only turn up at year end. Here is the difference in practice.
A once-a-year accountant
You hear from them when the accounts are due.
A ten minute call shows up on the invoice.
Investigation cover is sold as an add-on.
The VAT figure arrives after it is filed.
With Supreme Consultants
A reply the same working day, all year.
Calls, meetings and emails are never charged.
Tax investigation cover is included free.
You see the VAT figure before we submit.
Eight questions about your VAT set-up
Any no is worth a conversation before the next quarter.
Are your sales and purchase records kept in cloud software?
Making Tax Digital requires digital records, not a shoebox.
Do you know which VAT scheme you are on and why?
The wrong scheme costs money every quarter.
Is your bank reconciled before each return goes in?
Unreconciled takings are what HMRC checks first.
Do you see the VAT figure before it is filed?
You should know the number before HMRC does.
Has anyone checked whether you crossed the registration threshold?
Late registration brings penalties and backdated VAT.
Do you get an answer the same working day when you ask?
VAT letters carry deadlines that do not wait.
Is your fee fixed for the year?
A fee that moves makes you think twice about calling.
Would someone handle an HMRC VAT check for you at no extra cost?
Our tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

A client came to us owing HMRC around £20,000 across Corporation Tax, VAT and Self Assessment. He had no idea what the debts were for.
Clients described by type. Names withheld.
- How it was found
- We went through every line and found much of the Self Assessment balance was payments on account based on estimates, so we filed his return early.
- What happened
- That part of the debt was cancelled, HMRC wrote off the interest charged on it, and he knew exactly what he owed.

VAT returns in Port Talbot: questions people ask
What do VAT returns in Port Talbot cost with Supreme Consultants?
You get a fixed fee agreed in writing before any work starts, so it does not move during the year. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top. Most VAT registered businesses take bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, accounts and corporation tax together on one fee. Answer the questions on this page and we price it for your business.
How do I switch accountants without calling my current one?
You do not have to make that call. Once your ID checks are done we write to your current accountant and ask for your records, and HMRC authorises us as your agent for VAT. The handover and your first month carry no separate charge. Most switches are finished inside a couple of weeks.
What happens if HMRC writes to me about my VAT?
You forward us the letter and we answer HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, so there is no extra bill for the work. Other firms sell that cover as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.
Do I have to change my accounting software?
No. If your records already sit in software that meets Making Tax Digital, we work in that. If you want to move to Xero, we do the migration free. If you are still on spreadsheets or paper, we set the software up and get your records in so the next return files digitally.
Can you file VAT returns I have already missed?
Yes, as long as HMRC has not already opened an investigation that is running late. We get copies of your records from HMRC where needed, rebuild the quarters that were missed and bring every return up to date. We will also look at whether any penalties are worth appealing.
Do I need to come to Cardiff Bay to use you?
No. We work remotely, in person at Titan House in Cardiff Bay, or a mix of the two. Port Talbot clients mostly send records in through cloud software and speak to us by phone and email. If you want to sit down with us, the office is on Titan Road and meetings are never charged.
