Is your payroll in good hands? Three questions.

Answer by button, no email needed.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day when a payslip is wrong?

What you get

Tax investigation cover at no extra cost

If HMRC opens an enquiry into your business, we deal with it and you pay us nothing extra. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Payslips out and RTI filed on payday

Staff get paid on the day you told them. The full payment submission reaches HMRC on time, every month.

A fee that does not move

We agree it in writing before we start. Ring us when a leaver’s final pay looks wrong and the call costs nothing.

What employers tell us before they move their payroll

These are the three things we hear most often from Barry employers in the first phone call.

  • “My staff were paid late last month and nobody could tell me why the file had failed.”

He lost half a morning to it and had to explain himself to twelve people. We now run the payroll and send payslips before pay date.

  • “A penalty letter arrived about a late RTI submission and I did not even know it was late.”

Nobody had told him the deadline was payday, not month end. The penalty was avoidable and the next one was not.

  • “Every payroll question I ask lands on the next invoice, so I have stopped asking them.”

He was guessing at statutory sick pay for a year. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged here.

  • What changes once we take payroll on

You send us the hours and the changes, and we do the rest. Payslips go out before pay date, pension contributions are uploaded, and the RTI submission is filed on payday. When a question comes up, you ring us and it costs nothing.

How this compares with the payroll arrangement you have now

Most firms run the numbers properly; the gaps show up in the replies and the extras.

The usual payroll arrangement

Payslips arrive when someone gets round to them

A short call about a leaver appears on the invoice

Investigation cover sold as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year

A reply in a few days, if the deadline allows

With Supreme Consultants

Payslips and the RTI submission on payday, every month

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged

Tax investigation cover included free for every client

A reply the same working day

Eight questions about your payroll set-up

Answer these about the way your payroll runs today.

  • Do payslips reach your staff before pay date every month?

Late payslips usually mean the data reached the payroll late, and that is fixable.

  • Is every RTI submission filed on or before the day you pay people?

HMRC charges penalties for late full payment submissions.

  • Are pension contributions uploaded to the provider each month?

The Pensions Regulator writes to employers who fall behind.

  • Do you know your auto-enrolment re-enrolment date?

It comes round every three years and employers miss it.

  • Do you know what payroll will cost you this year?

A fixed fee agreed in writing before we start means you do.

  • Does a leaver get a P45 in the week they go?

We produce it as part of the monthly run.

  • Can you ring about a payroll query without it reaching an invoice?

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged here.

  • If HMRC queried your PAYE, would someone handle it for you?

Tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

Who we are not right for

We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not do charity accounts.

We cannot help a business that is already late in an HMRC investigation.

If none of those is you, start the check and we will come back the same working day.

Payroll in Barry: questions people ask

How much does payroll in Barry cost?

We agree a fixed fee in writing before any work starts, based on how many people you pay and how often the payroll runs. It does not move during the year. Calls, meetings and emails about your payroll are never charged on top, so asking about a leaver or a sick pay query costs you nothing.

Can you take over payroll from my current accountant mid-year?

Yes. We write to your current accountant for the payroll records and the year-to-date figures, so you do not have to make that call. We complete your ID checks and HMRC authorises us as your PAYE agent. Most employers switch between pay runs and their staff notice nothing at all.

What happens if HMRC writes to me about my PAYE?

Send the letter to us the day it arrives. We read it, tell you in plain English what it means, and deal with HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, so an enquiry brings no extra bill from us. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Do I have to change payroll software?

No. We keep your payroll running on the software you already use and take the monthly work off you. If you also want your bookkeeping moved to Xero, that migration is free for clients. We will tell you straight when a change is worth making and when it is just extra work.

Do you run payroll for a Barry business remotely?

Yes. Most of our work is done remotely and over the phone, so you never have to drive anywhere. You can come to Titan House in Cardiff Bay if you would rather sit down with us. Payroll changes come in by email or through the client portal each month, whichever suits you.

Are there employers you will not take on?

Yes. We do not act for CIS construction subcontractors or charities, and we cannot help a business already late in an HMRC investigation. We also say no when someone wants to argue about the fee before we have seen the work. Answer the questions on this page and we will tell you the same working day.
