Accountants for ecommerce sellers who answer the phone and fix the fee

Accountants for ecommerce sellers deal with payouts, not shop takings. Amazon, Shopify and eBay settle you net of fees and refunds, and the VAT sits underneath that figure. We unpick it and file what is due.

Most sellers we meet have an accountant who treats the platform statement as one line of income. That is how a VAT return goes wrong and how an HMRC letter turns up. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, and every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice in Cardiff Bay that does the bookkeeping, VAT, accounts and corporation tax for ecommerce sellers across South Wales. The fee is fixed and agreed in writing before work starts, calls are never charged, and tax investigation cover is included free.

Is your ecommerce bookkeeping in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons and you get the result on this page.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day when you email about a payout or a VAT query?

What you get

Tax investigation cover at no extra cost

If HMRC opens an enquiry into your returns, we deal with it and you pay us nothing extra. Other firms sell this as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year.

Payouts reconciled to what you actually sold

We match Amazon, Shopify and eBay settlements to platform fees, refunds and VAT. Your quarterly return reflects real sales, not the money that landed in the bank.

A fee you know before we start

The fee is agreed in writing up front. Ring us the week a VAT return is due and the call costs nothing.

What sellers tell us when they call

Three things we hear most weeks from people selling online in South Wales.

  • “I get a payout from Amazon every fortnight and I have no idea which part of it is VAT.”

He had been treating the payout as turnover, so platform fees and refunds were never claimed.

  • “My accountant did the VAT return off the bank statements and now HMRC has written to me.”

The letter sat on the desk for a week because nobody could say what it meant.

  • “I want to import stock from Asia and I do not know where the paperwork starts.”

One founder came to us with the idea and nothing else. We set up his limited company and registered him for VAT and an EORI number so he could import legally.

  • What changes once we take it on

Your sales channels, fees and refunds get reconciled every month instead of once a year. VAT returns are filed from the figures, and you know the number before it is due. When something lands from HMRC, you send it to us and we answer it.

How we work compared with a once-a-year accountant

Plenty of firms do good work on year-end accounts and stop there.

A once-a-year accountant

Sees your platform payout as one line of income

Picks up the VAT problem months after it happened

Bills for the phone call about it

Quotes separately if HMRC opens an enquiry

With Supreme Consultants

Fees, refunds and VAT split out of every settlement

Reconciliation monthly, so the quarterly return is ready

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged

Tax investigation cover included free for every client

Eight questions about your ecommerce set-up

If you answer no to two or more, the numbers behind your VAT return are worth a look.

  • Are platform fees claimed as an expense every month?

Fees come out of the payout before it reaches you, so they are easy to miss.

  • Are refunds and chargebacks taken out of your sales figure?

Leaving them in means you declare VAT on sales you never kept.

  • Do you know how close you are to the VAT threshold?

Rolling twelve month sales decide it, and online sales move quickly.

  • Are your records kept in software that meets Making Tax Digital?

VAT records have to be kept and filed digitally.

  • If you import stock, do you have an EORI number?

You cannot bring goods in legally without one.

  • Is import VAT accounted for on your return correctly?

Postponed accounting changes where the figures go on the return.

  • Do you take money out of the company in a planned way?

Salary and dividends should be decided before the year end, not after.

  • Would somebody deal with an HMRC VAT check for you?

Ours is included free for every client.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

Who we are not right for

We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not prepare charity accounts.

We cannot take on a business that is already late in an HMRC investigation.

If you are outside those three, start the check and we will tell you the same working day.

Accountants for ecommerce sellers: questions people ask

How much do accountants for ecommerce sellers charge?

We agree a fixed fee in writing before any work starts, based on your sales channels, your VAT position and how much bookkeeping there is. It does not move during the year. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top, so asking a question about a payout costs you nothing.

How do I switch from my current accountant?

You answer the questions on this page and Mudassir replies the same working day. If we are a fit, we agree the fee, complete your ID checks and write to your current accountant for your records, so you do not have to make that call. Handover and your first month carry no separate charge.

What happens if HMRC checks my online sales or VAT?

You send us the letter and we deal with HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, where other firms sell it as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. We never promise an outcome on a specific case.

Do I have to change my accounting software?

No. We work with the cloud software you already use. If you want to move to Xero we do the migration free, and we connect your sales channels so settlements come through automatically. The decision is yours and we will tell you straight if your current set-up is fine.

Do you handle VAT when I import stock from abroad?

Yes. We register you for VAT and for an EORI number, and we account for import VAT on your returns. One founder came to us with an idea to import products from Asia and no paperwork at all, and we set up his company and both registrations so he could start trading legally.

Are there online sellers you will not work with?

We do not act for CIS construction subcontractors or charities, and we cannot take on a business that is already late in an HMRC investigation. We tell people that at the first conversation rather than after taking a fee. Everything else, from sole traders to limited companies, is welcome in South Wales and Bristol.
