Tax investigation cover included free with every client we look after
Tax investigation cover is sold by most firms as a yearly add-on on top of your fees. We carry it ourselves and include it free for every client.
Most owners only think about it the morning a letter from HMRC lands on the mat. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. You pay a fixed fee agreed before we start, and the calls while we sort it out cost you nothing.
In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice in Cardiff Bay that includes tax investigation cover free for every client across South Wales. Fees are fixed and agreed in writing before work starts, and calls, meetings and emails are never charged for.
Check we’re the right fit
A few questions about your business. Mudassir replies the same working day.
Thank you Mud, your help and support with my VAT return is greatly appreciated. Always a prompt response and my difficult VAT return was quickly submitted and resolved. Would definitely recommend.
Is your HMRC side covered? Three questions.
Answer with the buttons, no email needed.
Question 1 of 3
Does your accountant reply the same working day?
Do you know your fee will not change this year?
If HMRC wrote tomorrow, would they deal with it at no extra cost?
On current arrangements an HMRC letter would cost you money and time you have not budgeted for. Run the check and we will tell you where you stand.
Start the checkYou are in a reasonable position on most of it, with one gap that tends to show up at the worst moment. Worth a short conversation before the next letter.
Start the checkYou are well served and there is no reason to move. The guides are there if you want to read up on how enquiries run.
Read the guidesWhat you get
Cover included, free, for every client
We carry the cover ourselves, so there is no yearly add-on line on your invoice. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.
Someone who answers when the letter arrives
You ring us the day it lands and get a reply the same working day. There is no invoice for that call.
A fee that does not move
We agree your fixed fee in writing before any work starts, and an HMRC enquiry does not change it.
What owners tell us before they move to us
These are the three things we hear most often on a first call about HMRC.
“A VAT letter came in March and my accountant quoted me extra to answer it.”
He sat on the letter for three weeks while he decided whether to pay. The delay made the enquiry bigger than it needed to be.
“I got a bill from HMRC and nobody has ever explained to me where the number came from.”
Payments on account had been set too high for two years running and nobody had looked.
“I pay for investigation insurance every January and I have no idea what it actually does.”
It was a renewal line on an invoice, added each year, never discussed.
What changes once we take it on
You send us the letter the day it arrives and we take the correspondence from there. We pull your full HMRC record, work out what is actually being asked and reply within the deadline. You get told what we have said and what happens next.
Cover sold as an add-on against cover we carry
Both arrangements exist for a reason, and here is the plain difference.
Cover bought as a yearly policy
A renewal line added to your January invoice.
You claim against a policy when a letter arrives.
Enquiry work may be quoted on top of your fees.
The firm’s time is paid for by the insurer.

Eight questions about your current set-up

Our fee is fixed and agreed in writing before any work starts.

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged for here.

We reply the same working day, even if the full answer takes longer.
Has anyone checked whether your payments on account are set too high?
We look at that in the first month for every new client.
Do you know whether your past penalties could be appealed?
We review penalties as part of the first-month look at your HMRC record.
Is every VAT, payroll and accounts deadline diarised for the year ahead?
We map them all so you are never the one chasing us.
Would your accountant answer an HMRC letter without quoting first?
We take the letter and reply within the deadline.
What we do for your HMRC enquiry
Three things, all covered by the fixed fee you already agreed.
All Services- We take the correspondence
- Forward the letter and we become the point of contact. You stop writing to HMRC and we reply within the deadline.
- We pull your full record
- As your agent we see what HMRC sees, so the answer we give matches the figures already filed.
- We fix what caused it
- Late filings brought up to date, payments on account corrected, penalties appealed where there are grounds.
- We keep you informed
- You get told what we have sent, what HMRC has asked for and when the next date falls.
Two cases where HMRC was the problem and we dealt with it
A retail client and an owner-managed company, both with HMRC already in the picture. Neither paid extra for the work.
Clients described by type. Names withheld.

Reviews from clients
Thank you Mud, your help and support with my VAT return is greatly appreciated. Always a prompt response and my difficult VAT return was quickly submitted and resolved. Would definitely recommend.
I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!
Friendly, nice 👌 , helpful and great all around
Difficult to describe as there are too many words that can be expressed for a wonderful accountant and their firm.
Definitely 🔝 and highly recommended in Wales 🏴 and throughout the UK for Accountancy and Tax Services

How switching to us works
Four steps, and most of the work sits with us.
- Before you join
A free introductory chat
Tell us where things stand. If we are not the right fit we will say so on that call.
- Week one
Fee agreed and handover done
We complete your ID checks, put your fixed fee in writing and send professional clearance to your current accountant.
- Week one
Authorised to speak to HMRC
We get appointed as your agent so we can see your full record, and we handle Companies House ID verification at no charge.
- First month
Your HMRC record reviewed
We go through past returns, bills and penalties. This is where the missed reliefs and the payments on account set too high turn up.
Who we are not right for
We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.
We do not act for charities.
We do not take on businesses already late in an HMRC investigation.
If none of those describe you, run the check and we will tell you where you stand.
Tax investigation cover: questions people ask
How much does tax investigation cover cost with Supreme Consultants?
Nothing extra. We carry the cover ourselves and include it free for every client we look after, so there is no yearly renewal line added to your invoice. Your accountancy work is on one fixed fee agreed in writing before we start, and calls, meetings and emails are never charged for.
Can I switch accountants and keep my investigation cover?
Yes. Switching to us includes the cover from the point you become a client. We send the professional clearance letter to your current accountant so you do not have to have that conversation, handle HMRC and Companies House agent authorisation, and give you a free first month and free migration to Xero.
What happens if HMRC writes to me or opens a check?
You send us the letter the day it arrives and we take the correspondence from there. As your agent we pull your full HMRC record, work out exactly what is being asked and reply inside the deadline. We tell you what we have said and what happens next. We never promise an outcome.
Do I have to change my bookkeeping software to get this?
No. We work with what you already use. If you want to move to Xero we migrate you free of charge as part of switching, and we will set the bookkeeping up properly while we are there. Keeping your current system does not change your fee or the cover.
Has Supreme Consultants actually dealt with HMRC investigations?
Yes. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. We also do a lot of HMRC debt and penalty work: for one owner-managed client our first-month review found payments on account set too high and penalties worth appealing, and brought a twenty thousand pound HMRC debt down.
Who at the firm deals with HMRC on my behalf?
Shaista Awais MAAT and Mudassir Dehghani run the practice from Titan House in Cardiff Bay, and one of them handles HMRC correspondence directly. You can call 029 2264 0550, email info@supremeconsultants.co.uk or meet us in person. You get a reply the same working day, Monday to Friday.
