Is your takeaway in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons and you get your result on the page.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

Tax investigation cover included free

We cover it ourselves for every client, where other firms sell it as a yearly add-on. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

VAT on hot food treated correctly

Hot food served to take away is standard rated and some cold lines are not. We set your till categories so each return reflects what you actually sold.

A fee you know before we start

We agree a fixed fee in writing. Calls, meetings and emails are never added to it, so you can ring when the till roll does not add up.

What takeaway owners tell us when they first call

These are the three lines we hear most from Newport food businesses.

  • “HMRC has written asking how I worked out my takings and I don’t know what to send them.”

He spent three weeks drafting a reply in the evenings instead of running the shop.

  • “My last accountant billed me for a ten minute phone call, so I stopped ringing him.”

The small questions piled up until one of them turned into a late filing penalty.

  • “There’s a carrier bag of till rolls and supplier invoices behind the counter going back months.”

Records written up in a rush miss costs the business was entitled to claim.

  • What changes once we take it on

Each month we take your till exports, supplier invoices and delivery platform statements and put them in order. Your VAT return, payroll and year-end accounts then come off one set of numbers. When something looks wrong you ring us, and there is no invoice for the call.

How we differ from the usual arrangement

Plenty of firms do good work. The difference is what you can ask without paying for it.

A typical high street firm

You hear from them once a year when the accounts are due.

Calls and emails are added to the bill.

Tax investigation cover is sold as a yearly extra.

Till and delivery figures are added up in one go after year end.

With Supreme Consultants

A reply the same working day, and a time if the full answer takes longer.

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged for.

Tax investigation cover is included free and we pay for it.

Bookkeeping runs monthly, so the VAT return is ready when it falls due.

Eight questions about how your takeaway is set up

A no on any line is worth raising when we speak.

  • Does your till separate hot food from cold and drinks?

Without that split, VAT returns are built on an estimate.

  • Do your Just Eat and Deliveroo statements get reconciled monthly?

Platform commission and the gross sale have to be recorded separately.

  • Is cash banked and recorded on the same day it is taken?

Gaps between takings and bankings are the first thing HMRC asks about.

  • Are staff hours run through payroll with auto-enrolment applied?

Rota changes and casual shifts are where payroll errors build up.

  • Do you know which supplier costs you can reclaim VAT on?

Zero rated food purchases and standard rated packaging get mixed up often.

  • Have your business rates been checked against the reliefs available?

Some Welsh reliefs only apply if someone makes an application.

  • Is your corporation tax figure known before the bill lands?

Knowing it early means you can set the money aside in time.

  • Would somebody deal with an HMRC letter for you this week?

Cover is included free with us, so the answer costs you nothing.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

How switching to us works

Most of it happens without you doing anything beyond saying yes.

  1. Before you join

    A free introductory chat

Tell us where things stand with your takings, VAT and payroll. If we are not the right fit we will say so.

  2. Week one

    Handover done for you

We complete your ID checks, agree your fixed fee in writing and write to your current accountant for your records. You do not have to make that call.

  3. First month

    A review of your records

We go through past accounts, returns and your HMRC record. This is where missed reliefs, payments on account set too high and appealable penalties turn up.

  4. By ninety days

    Deadlines mapped and pay reviewed

VAT, payroll, accounts and self assessment are diarised for the year. We also talk through how you take money out of the business.

Who we are not right for

We do not act for subcontractors working under the Construction Industry Scheme.

We do not take on charities.

We do not take on businesses already late in an HMRC investigation.

If your takeaway sits outside those three, start the check and we will tell you what we would do first.

Takeaway accountants Newport: questions people ask

What do takeaway accountants in Newport cost?

You pay one fixed monthly fee, agreed in writing before any work starts. It depends on turnover, whether you are VAT registered, how many staff are on payroll and how tidy the records are. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top, so asking a question costs you nothing.

How do I switch accountants if my takeaway already has one?

You tell us yes and we do the rest. We run your ID checks, confirm the fixed fee in writing and send the professional clearance letter to your current accountant so they hand the records over. We also handle HMRC and Companies House agent authorisation, and migration to Xero is free.

What happens if HMRC writes to my takeaway about VAT or takings?

Send us the letter the day it arrives. We read it, work out exactly what HMRC is asking for and reply on your behalf, with the supporting records. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client we look after, and every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Do I have to change my till or accounting software?

No. We work with the till and the platform reports you already have. If you want to move bookkeeping to Xero we migrate you across free, but it is your call and plenty of clients stay where they are. What matters is that the data comes to us in a usable form each month.

How does VAT work on hot food sold from a takeaway?

Hot food sold to be eaten straight away is standard rated, while some cold items taken away can be zero rated. The split matters because your return is only as accurate as your till categories. We set the categories up with you and check them against the sales mix each quarter.

Do Just Eat and Deliveroo sales go on my VAT return?

Yes. The sale is yours even though the platform collects the money and takes commission, so the gross sale belongs in your takings and the commission is recorded as a cost. We reconcile the platform statements to the bank each month so the figures match before the return is filed.
