Is it time to switch accountants? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons, no email needed.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get when you move to us

Tax investigation cover included free

Every client we act for is covered, and we carry the cost ourselves. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

A fixed fee agreed before we start

You know the figure in writing before any work begins. Calls, meetings and emails are never added to it.

Every deadline mapped for the year

VAT, payroll, accounts, corporation tax and self assessment are diarised for the year ahead. You are not the one chasing us.

What owners tell us before they switch

These are the three things we hear most often in a first call.

  • “I emailed about a VAT letter on the Monday and heard nothing back until the following week.”

The letter sat unanswered while the clock on HMRC’s response date kept running.

  • “I got an invoice for a ten minute phone call, so now I just sit on the questions.”

The small questions are usually where money gets saved, and he stopped asking them.

  • “I only hear from my accountant when the accounts are due, nine months after year end.”

By then the decisions on pay, stock and a second site had all been made blind.

  • What changes once we take it on

We write to your old accountant, collect the records and get authorised with HMRC so we can see exactly where you stand. In the first month we go back through your past accounts, tax returns and HMRC record. That is where missed reliefs, payments on account set too high and appealable penalties turn up.

Staying put compared with moving to us

Plenty of Cardiff firms do solid work, so here is the honest difference.

Your current arrangement

Replies come when the person is free, sometimes a week later.

The bill moves with the time recorded on your file.

Tax investigation cover is sold as an annual add-on.

You hear from them once a year, around the accounts.

With Supreme Consultants

A reply the same working day, with a date if the answer needs longer.

A fixed fee agreed in writing before any work starts.

Tax investigation cover included free for every client.

Calls whenever you want one, at no charge.

Eight questions to ask before you move

Work through these about your current set-up before you decide.

  • Do you get a reply the same working day?

An HMRC letter with a response date cannot wait a week.

  • Is your fee fixed and in writing?

You should know the figure before the work starts.

  • Are calls and emails billed separately?

If they are, you will stop asking the questions that save money.

  • Is tax investigation cover included?

Ours is free for every client and we carry the cost.

  • Has anyone checked your payments on account?

Set too high, they take cash out of the business all year.

  • Did anyone handle your Companies House ID verification?

We did it free for every existing client when the rule came in.

  • Do you get management numbers during the year?

Accounts nine months after year end are too late to act on.

  • Does your accountant know the Welsh rules?

Rates relief and Cardiff Council processes are easy to miss from outside Wales.

What we do for your switch

The handover is ours to run, and it starts the week you say yes.

All Services near you

Overdue filings brought up to date
Neglected or lost records get rebuilt and late filings cleared. Then the year ahead is diarised so it does not happen again.

What a proper review of your file turns up

A retail franchisee came to us still paying full business rates through Covid. Cardiff Council required an application for retail rates relief and nobody had told him.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

How switching to us works

Four steps, and the awkward one is ours to do.

  1. Before you join

    A free introductory chat

Tell us where things stand. If we are not the right fit for you, we will say so.

  2. Week one

    Your records moved across

We complete your ID checks, agree your fixed fee in writing and send professional clearance to your current accountant. We also get appointed as your agent with HMRC and Companies House.

  3. First month

    A review of past filings

We read your old accounts, tax returns and HMRC records properly. Then every deadline for the year ahead goes in the diary.

  4. By ninety days

    A plan for paying yourself

We talk through salary, dividends or a mix so you keep as much as possible while staying compliant. Your bookkeeping setup gets tidied at the same time.

Who we are not right for

We do not act for CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not take on charities.

We do not take on businesses already late in an HMRC investigation.

If none of those describe you, run the check and we will tell you what switching would involve.

Switching accountants in Cardiff: questions people ask

What does switching accountants in Cardiff cost?

You pay one fixed monthly fee, agreed in writing before any work starts, and calls, meetings and emails are never added to it. The switch itself costs nothing to get going: the handover with your current accountant, Companies House ID verification where it is needed, your first month and migration to Xero are all free.

Do I have to tell my current accountant I am leaving?

No. We send a professional clearance letter asking them to hand your records over to us directly, which is standard practice between firms. Most of our clients never have the conversation at all. If you would rather tell them yourself first, that is fine, but nothing stalls if you do not.

What happens if HMRC writes to me after I switch?

Send it to us and we deal with HMRC on your behalf. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client we act for, and we carry the cost rather than selling it as an add-on. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. You get a reply the same working day.

Will I have to change accounting software?

Only if you want to. We work with what you already use, and if you would rather move to Xero we migrate your data and set it up free as part of the switch. Either way you keep your invoicing and bank feeds running while the handover happens.

How long does switching accountants in Cardiff take?

Week one covers your ID checks, your fixed fee in writing and the clearance letter to your current accountant, plus HMRC and Companies House authorisation. The full review of your past accounts, tax returns and HMRC record happens in the first month, and your deadlines for the year are diarised at the same time.

Can I switch mid-year or should I wait for my year end?

Mid-year is fine and often better, because we can see live VAT and payroll rather than a finished file. The one case we cannot take on is a business already late in an HMRC investigation, where the time to change hands has passed. Everything else we pick up where your current accountant left it.
