Accountants for franchise owners in South Wales, on a fixed fee

Accountants for franchise owners usually get the call in the week when the franchisor’s monthly report, the VAT return and the payroll run all land together.

You run someone else’s brand to someone else’s timetable, and the paperwork behind the till does not wait. We agree the fee before we start, reply the same working day, and never put a call on the invoice. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice in Cardiff Bay that acts for franchise owners across South Wales. It handles bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, year-end accounts, corporation tax and franchisor reporting on a fixed fee agreed before work starts, with tax investigation cover included for every client.

Is your franchise in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with a button and we will show you where you stand.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

Tax investigation cover at no extra cost

Every client is covered, and we pay for it ourselves. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Numbers that match the franchisor’s statement

Your till takings, your royalty figure and your VAT return are reconciled to each other every month.

A fee you know before we start

One fixed monthly figure agreed in writing. Ring us when a statement does not add up and it costs nothing.

What franchise owners tell us when they first call

These are the three things we hear most often in the first ten minutes.

  • “Head office sends me a monthly report and I have no idea if the royalty figure is right.”

He had been paying on a number nobody had checked against the till for two years.

  • “A VAT letter came in August and my accountant got back to me the following week.”

By then the deadline to respond had moved from comfortable to tight.

  • “I opened a second site and I still only see one set of figures, nine months late.”

He could not tell which shop was carrying the other until the year-end accounts arrived.

  • What changes once we take it on

Your bookkeeping is done monthly, so the VAT return and the franchisor report come off the same reconciled numbers. Deadlines for VAT, payroll, accounts and corporation tax are diarised for the year ahead. You ring us with the small questions and there is no invoice for it.

How this compares with the arrangement most franchise owners already have

Plenty of firms file accurately. The difference shows up between the filings.

A typical once-a-year arrangement

The filing gets done and the statutory deadlines are met.

You see your figures months after the trading year has closed.

Calls and emails appear on the next invoice, so questions get saved up.

Tax investigation cover is sold to you as a yearly add-on.

With Supreme Consultants

The filing gets done and the deadlines are diarised a year ahead.

Monthly figures per site, so you can decide before the lease is signed.

A fixed fee agreed before we start, with calls and meetings never charged.

Tax investigation cover included free for every client, paid for by us.

Eight things to check about your franchise set-up

Any no here is worth raising with whoever does your books.

  • Do your till takings reconcile to the franchisor’s monthly statement?

If they drift, your royalty payment and your VAT return rest on a figure nobody has checked.

  • Is the initial franchise fee treated correctly in your accounts?

Getting it wrong moves tax into the wrong year and the error compounds.

  • Do you see the margin on each site separately?

One combined set of figures hides the shop that is losing money.

  • Have you applied for every rates relief your premises qualify for?

In Wales some reliefs need an application and will never arrive on their own.

  • Is payroll filed on time every month, including weekend staff?

Late Real Time Information filings collect penalties quietly in the background.

  • Do you get figures during the year rather than after it?

Accounts nine months late cannot help you decide on a second site.

  • Is your VAT return built from the bookkeeping or from the bank?

Bank-only VAT misses stock, card fees and anything paid in cash.

  • Would you ring your accountant about a ten-minute question?

If the answer is no because of the invoice, you are sitting on problems.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

How switching to us works

Most of it happens without you doing anything beyond saying yes.

  1. Before you join

    A free introductory chat

Tell us where things stand with the franchise and the records. If we are not the right fit we will say so.

  2. Week one

    Fee agreed and handover started

We complete your ID checks, agree the fixed fee in writing, and write to your current accountant for your records. You avoid that conversation.

  3. First month

A full review of your position

We go through past accounts, returns and HMRC records. This is where missed reliefs, payments on account set too high and appealable penalties turn up.

  4. By ninety days

    A plan for paying yourself

We talk through salary and dividends so you keep as much as possible while staying compliant, and we tidy the bookkeeping setup.

Who we are not right for

We do not act for CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not take on charities.

We do not take on businesses that are already late in an HMRC investigation.

If none of those apply to you, the three questions above will tell you whether a conversation is worth having.

Accountants for franchise owners: questions people ask

What do accountants for franchise owners charge?

You pay one fixed monthly fee, agreed in writing before any work starts. It depends on turnover, VAT registration, transaction volume, payroll headcount and how tidy the records are, so we quote after the introductory chat rather than guess. Calls, meetings and emails are never billed. We work on an ongoing basis rather than one-off returns.

How do I switch to you from my current accountant?

You say yes and we do the rest. We send the professional clearance letter so your current accountant hands over records directly, get appointed as your agent with HMRC and Companies House, and handle Companies House ID verification at no charge where it is needed. The handover, the first month and Xero migration are free.

What happens if HMRC writes to me about my franchise?

Send us the letter and we take it from there. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, paid for by us rather than sold as an add-on, so dealing with HMRC does not produce an extra bill. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

Do I have to change my bookkeeping software?

No. If your current system works and the figures reconcile, we carry on with it. If you want to move to Xero we migrate you free as part of switching. What matters is that the takings, the stock purchases and the card settlements all reach the books each month.

Do you work with franchise owners outside Cardiff?

Yes. We are based at Titan House in Cardiff Bay and act for clients across Newport, Swansea, Caerphilly, Port Talbot, Barry and Bristol, plus others further afield. Over 90% of our clients are in South Wales. We work remotely, in person at the office, or a mix of the two.

Can you produce the reporting my franchisor asks for?

Yes. We reconcile your till and card takings monthly so the sales figure you report to head office matches the figure in your VAT return and your accounts. Where the franchise agreement sets a reporting date, we work to it and tell you in advance what we need from you.
