Accountants for multi-site retailers who keep every store’s numbers in one place

Accountants for multi-site retailers get asked the same question every month: which shop made money and which one did not. We answer it with a figure per store, not one set of year-end accounts.

Open a second site and the paperwork doubles overnight. Takings, card machine reports and stock sit in different piles, and the VAT return gets built from whatever turns up. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, and every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice in Cardiff Bay that handles bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and year-end accounts for multi-site retailers across South Wales. The fee is fixed and agreed in writing before work starts, and tax investigation cover is included free for every client.

Is your multi-site retail business in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons and nothing gets emailed anywhere.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

Tax investigation cover included, free

If HMRC opens an enquiry into your business we deal with it and you do not pay us extra. Other firms sell this as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year.

A monthly figure for every store

Takings, wages and margin broken down site by site. That tells you which shop to fix and which one to copy when you take the next lease.

One fixed fee across every site

Agreed in writing before we start. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top, however many stores you run.

What multi-site owners tell us when they ring

These are the three things we hear most from owners running more than one shop.

  • “I opened the second shop and now I have no idea which one is actually making money.”

Decisions get made on gut feel. The weak site keeps trading for another year on the strong one’s cash.

  • “HMRC has written about my VAT and the till reports for two of the stores are missing.”

The reply goes in late, and the check widens to the other sites.

  • “My accountant takes a week to come back, then bills me for the ten minute call.”

You stop asking. The questions that would have saved money never get asked.

  • What changes once we take it on

Every store goes on the same bookkeeping set-up in cloud software. The VAT return is built from till and card machine data each quarter. You get a figure per site every month, and when an HMRC letter arrives you send it to us.

How this compares with the usual arrangement

Most multi-site owners we meet are on a yearly accounts job with a firm they rarely speak to.

A yearly accounts job with your current firm

Accounts land nine months after the year end.

All stores added together in one set of figures.

A call or an email can appear on the invoice.

Investigation cover sold as an add-on at £300 to £1,000 a year.

With Supreme Consultants

A reply the same working day, every working day.

A figure for each store, every month.

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged.

Tax investigation cover included free for every client.

Eight questions about how your stores are run

Answer each one yes or no about your current set-up.

  • Is every store on the same bookkeeping software?

One set-up means one VAT return built the same way each quarter.

  • Can you see takings per site for last month?

If the figure takes a week to find, it is too late to act on.

  • Do your card machine reports get reconciled to the till?

The gap between the two is where VAT checks usually start.

  • Have you claimed every business rates relief going in Wales?

Welsh councils expect you to apply, store by store.

  • Is payroll filed on time for staff across all sites?

Late RTI submissions pick up penalties at every site at once.

  • Do you know your stock position at each shop?

Stock sitting in the wrong store distorts the margin on both.

  • Would you ring your accountant about a small query?

If the invoice puts you off, you are paying for silence.

  • Do you know who answers an HMRC VAT letter?

With us it is us, and there is no extra charge for it.

What we do for your stores

One fixed fee covers the compliance work for every site you trade from.

All Who we help
Bookkeeping across sites
Records kept up to date in cloud software, with each store coded separately. We take the paperwork as well.
VAT returns and MTD
Registration, the right scheme, Making Tax Digital records and quarterly returns built from till and card data.
Payroll for shop staff
Payslips, pensions and RTI submissions for every site, including starters and leavers through the year.
Accounts and corporation tax
Year-end accounts and the corporation tax return prepared, filed on time and explained in plain English.
Management accounts per store
A monthly read on takings, wages and margin at each shop, so the next lease is a decision with numbers behind it.

What a first meeting with a multi-site owner can turn up

A Spar franchise owner with several stores came to us still paying full business rates from the Covid years. Retail businesses in Wales were entitled to relief, and Cardiff Council only gave it to businesses that applied.

Clients described by type. Names withheld.

£10,000of business rates relief found in a first meeting
How it was found
Nobody had told him the Welsh relief had to be claimed, so he kept paying the full bill on every site.
What happened
We spotted it in the first meeting and it saved him £10,000.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

Who we are not right for

We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not do charity accounts.

We do not take on businesses already late in an HMRC investigation.

If you are outside those three, start the check and Mudassir will come back the same working day.

Accountants for multi-site retailers: questions people ask

What do accountants for multi-site retailers charge?

We work on a fixed fee agreed in writing before any work starts. It depends on how many sites you run, whether you are VAT registered and how many staff are on payroll. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top, so asking a question costs nothing.

How do I switch accountants when I have several shops?

You answer the questions on this page and we do the rest. We complete your ID checks and write to your current accountant for the records of every store, so you never have to make that call. HMRC and Companies House then authorise us as your agent.

What happens if HMRC opens a VAT check on one of my stores?

You send us the letter and we deal with HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, where other firms sell it as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won, and that is past fact rather than a promise about your case.

Do I have to change my till or accounting software?

No. We work with the cloud software you already use and with the reports your till and card machine produce. If you want to move to Xero, the migration is free for clients. The decision is yours and we will tell you whether it is worth doing.

Can you give me figures for each shop separately?

Yes. We code bookkeeping by site, so takings, wages, stock and margin are reported store by store each month. That is how owners decide which shop needs attention and whether the numbers support taking on another unit.

Do you take on multi-site retailers outside Cardiff?

Yes. We are based at Titan House in Cardiff Bay and work across South Wales, including Newport, Swansea, Caerphilly, Barry and Port Talbot, with Bristol over the bridge. Work is done remotely, in person at our office, or a mix of the two.
