Accountants for fast food franchises across South Wales, on a fixed fee

Accountants for fast food franchises spend most of their time on three things: VAT on hot food, payroll for shift staff, and the gap between delivery app payouts and the till takings.

Takeaway and franchise sites get more HMRC VAT checks than most trades. If a letter arrives, we deal with HMRC for you and tax investigation cover is included free for every client. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won.

In one lineSupreme Consultants is an AAT licensed accountancy practice in Cardiff Bay that does the bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, accounts and corporation tax for fast food franchise owners across South Wales. The fee is fixed in writing before work starts, calls are never charged, and tax investigation cover is included free.

Is your franchise in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons and you get a straight read, with no email asked for.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

HMRC enquiries handled at no extra cost

Tax investigation cover is included free for every client. Other firms sell it as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year.

VAT returns that match your takings

We reconcile till takings, card settlements and delivery app payouts before the quarterly return goes in. You can see where every figure came from.

Welsh reliefs your franchisor will not flag

We found £10,000 of business rates relief for a Spar franchise owner in a first meeting, because Cardiff Council only gave it to businesses that applied.

What franchise owners tell us when they ring

These are the three calls we get most from takeaway and fast food sites.

  • “HMRC has written about my VAT and I do not know what the letter is asking for.”

It sat in a drawer for three weeks and the deadline in it had already passed.

  • “The app payouts, the card machine and the till roll give me three different numbers every week.”

The VAT return went in on a guess, and the correction cost more than the bookkeeping would have.

  • “I asked my accountant about a second site and heard back nine days later.”

The lease went to someone else while he waited for the numbers.

  • What changes once we take it on

Your takings, payouts and wages are reconciled every month, so the VAT return is built from records rather than estimates. Every deadline for the year is mapped and you know the fee before we start. Ring us when the till roll does not add up and it costs nothing.

How this compares with the usual arrangement

Most franchise owners we meet are with a firm that does the year-end and little else.

A once-a-year accountant

Accounts arrive nine months after the year end

Phone calls appear on the next invoice

HMRC enquiries are quoted for separately

The VAT return is built from your figures, unchecked

With Supreme Consultants

A reply the same working day

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged

Tax investigation cover included free

Takings and app payouts reconciled before the return

Eight questions about how your franchise is run

Count the noes before you decide whether to move.

  • Are your delivery app payouts reconciled to the till each month?

If not, the VAT return is a guess.

  • Do you know which items on your menu are standard rated?

Hot food and eat-in sales get treated wrongly more often than anything else.

  • Is your shift payroll filed to HMRC on time every month?

Late RTI submissions bring penalties that build quietly.

  • Have you applied for the Welsh rates reliefs you qualify for?

Councils in Wales only give several of them to businesses that apply.

  • Do you get management figures between year ends?

Without them you cannot tell whether a second site is affordable.

  • Is your franchise fee and marketing levy coded correctly?

Miscoded levies distort your margin all year.

  • Would your accountant answer an HMRC VAT letter for you?

We do, and it is included free for every client.

  • Do you know your accountancy fee for the next twelve months?

Ours is agreed in writing before we start.

Fast food sites take cash, run shift payroll and get picked for VAT checks more often than most trades. When HMRC has opened an enquiry into one of our clients, we have dealt with it and the client paid us nothing extra.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

Who we are not right for

We do not take on CIS construction subcontractors.

We do not do charity accounts.

We cannot take on a business that is already late in an HMRC investigation.

If you are outside those three, start the check and we will tell you straight whether we can help.

Accountants for fast food franchises: questions people ask

How much do accountants for fast food franchises charge?

We agree a fixed fee in writing before any work starts, based on the number of sites, how many staff are on payroll and whether you are VAT registered. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top. You will know the figure before you commit to anything, and it does not move during the year.

How do I switch from my current accountant?

You answer the questions on this page and Mudassir replies the same working day. If we are a fit, we complete your ID checks, write to your current accountant for your records and get authorised as your agent with HMRC and Companies House. You do not have to make that call yourself.

What happens if HMRC writes to me about my VAT?

Send us the letter and we deal with HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, so you do not pay us extra when an enquiry is opened. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. We cannot take on a business that is already late in an investigation.

Do I have to change my accounting software?

No. We work with the cloud software you already use, and we can keep the till and delivery app feeds running as they are. If you want to move to Xero we do the migration free. The decision is yours and nothing changes without you agreeing to it.

Can you handle several franchise sites under one company?

Yes. We keep the bookkeeping by site so you can see which unit makes money, then consolidate for the VAT return and the year-end accounts. That is also the information you need when a landlord or a franchisor asks about a further unit.

Where are you based and do you meet in person?

We are at Titan House in Cardiff Bay and over 90% of our clients are in South Wales, mainly Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Caerphilly, Barry and Port Talbot. We work remotely, at our office, or a mix. English, Urdu, Hindi and Farsi are spoken here.
