Is your takeaway in good hands? Three questions.

Answer with the buttons and you get a straight read on where you stand.

Question 1 of 3

Does your accountant reply the same working day?

What you get

Tax investigation cover, included free

If HMRC opens an enquiry into your takeaway we deal with it and you pay us nothing extra. Other firms sell this as an add-on for £300 to £1,000 a year.

A fee you know before we start

We agree it in writing, then it stays put. Ring us when the till roll does not match the card machine and it costs nothing.

VAT filed on time every quarter

Takings, delivery platform statements and purchase invoices reconciled, then the return filed under Making Tax Digital before the deadline.

What takeaway owners tell us when they ring

Three things come up again and again on the first call.

  • “HMRC has written to me about my VAT and I do not know what the letter means.”

He had left it a fortnight because his accountant had not called back. We read it, replied for him and dealt with HMRC.

  • “The paperwork is in two carrier bags behind the counter and the quarter ends on Friday.”

The return went in late the last two quarters and the penalties followed. We take the paperwork as well as the figures.

  • “I got a bill I cannot make sense of and nobody has explained it.”

Nobody had looked at what the HMRC balance was actually made up of. That is the first thing we go through.

  • What changes once we take it on

Every deadline for the year is mapped in the first month, so you know what is coming before it arrives. The books are kept in cloud software instead of carrier bags. When a letter lands you send it to us and we answer it.

The usual arrangement, and ours

Plenty of accountants do solid work. The difference is what happens between the year-end jobs.

A once-a-year accountant

You hear from them when the accounts are due

A ten minute call can appear on the next invoice

Investigation cover is sold as an add-on

The VAT letter sits while you wait for a reply

With Supreme Consultants

A reply the same working day, every time

Calls, meetings and emails are never charged

Tax investigation cover is included free

You send us the letter and we answer HMRC

Eight questions about how your takeaway is run

Answer yes or no to each one before the next quarter ends.

  • Do your till takings get reconciled to the bank every week?

Weekly beats a panic at quarter end when a week of Z readings is missing.

  • Are your delivery platform statements included in your VAT figures?

Commission and platform fees are regularly missed off the return.

  • Do you know which VAT scheme you are on and why?

The scheme decides how much work the quarter takes and what you pay.

  • Are hot food and cold food sales split correctly on your records?

That split is the first thing HMRC asks about in a VAT check.

  • Are your staff paid through payroll with RTI filed on time?

Cash paid off the books is the costliest thing to unpick later.

  • Is your bookkeeping in cloud software rather than a carrier bag?

Cloud records mean we can answer a question the day you ask it.

  • Would your accountant deal with an HMRC VAT check at no extra cost?

Ours is included free, so the answer never depends on an invoice.

  • Do you know today what your accountant will charge this year?

The fee should be agreed in writing before any work starts.

I just want to say a big thank you to Mudassir for all the advice, guidance and help he has provided whilst dealing with my accounts and tax returns. From start to finish the service has been excellent and professional. Unlike other accountancy firms they provide a friendly personalised service, I was very clear on the process and was even provided with additional guidance where needed. Highly recommended!

Who we are not right for

We do not do charity accounts.

We cannot help a business that is already late in an HMRC investigation.

If none of those apply, start the check and Mudassir will come back to you the same working day.

Takeaway accountants Bristol: questions people ask

What does a takeaway accountant in Bristol cost?

We quote one fixed fee for the whole year and agree it in writing before any work starts. It covers the bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, year-end accounts and corporation tax your takeaway needs. Calls, meetings and emails are never charged on top, and tax investigation cover is included free. The fee does not move partway through the year.

How do I switch from my current accountant?

You answer the questions on this page and we take it from there. We complete your ID checks and write to your current accountant for your records, so you never have to make that call. HMRC and Companies House authorise us as your agent. The handover carries no separate charge and the first month is free.

What happens if HMRC writes to me about my VAT?

You send us the letter and we deal with HMRC for you. Tax investigation cover is included free for every client, so there is no extra bill for that work. Every HMRC investigation we have handled, we have won. One client owed around £20,000 across three taxes and we went through every line until he knew exactly what he owed.

Do I have to change my bookkeeping software?

No. We work with what you already use, whether that is a spreadsheet, a shoebox of receipts or an existing cloud package. If you want to move to Xero we migrate you free of charge. We can also pull takings straight from your till and card machine reports so the quarter is not rebuilt from scratch.

Can a Cardiff practice really look after a Bristol takeaway?

Yes. Bristol is the neighbouring market over the bridge and we already work with businesses there. Most of the work is done remotely, with records in cloud software and a reply the same working day. If you want to sit down with us in person, our office is at Titan House in Cardiff Bay, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

My VAT returns are behind. Will you still take me on?

Usually yes. Late returns and unopened HMRC letters are normal first conversations for us, and we have rebuilt books from HMRC copies before and had penalties appealed and cancelled. The one case we cannot take is a business already late in an HMRC investigation, and we will tell you straight if that is you.
